very dangerous , hence insured rates are higher for

Not to discredit new disk jockeys in any way , rather I wanted to provide a viewpoint.
I have seen and trained
upcoming disk jockeys for many years now.
Effects
What I noticed is that ,
for some as a novice , the coolest thing is to use a lot
of effects , throw in scratching and samples over songs
to be “testing out the cool”.
As a time tested entertainer,
I don’t see this as good crowd
control. People will enjoy dancing to music that is
familiar to them , and if the DJ is throwing in a bunch of
effects loops and samples, then that same song becomes less dance able.
Transitions
We all can access a large music
library these days , and another “cool” thing that many novice DJ’s will
do is top transition from one song to the other during a
portion that is convenient to them with the thought of
getting in as many songs as possible into one set. It gets to be so
tempting to play ALL the songs you love. the
problem occurs when this convenient transition time
is during the melody line verse right before
the chorus/ hook of a song.
(Melody line verses are lower in
pitch and easier to transition.)
A Seasoned Entertainer
effects , loops samples
and transitions are all great tools if used the right way in
moderation.
Like a well trained driver,
their focus matures from being cool to being safe .
In the same way – a DJ
matures to becoming a good entertainer rather than the
cool re-mixer.

good entertainer,
