in the regular / traditional indian wedding . most of the festivity starts at the pre-wedding party called the mehndi . Mehndi party's were usually at least a 2 night event . one for the bride and then one also for the groom . As this evolved in the modern times or at least the late 90's New York tri-state wedding market , I as a DJ have saw a trend for combining these 2 pre wedding nights into one big mehndi party .
In the ceremonial aspect , there was also a change, from the ladies sitting around a dholki playing it by hand and singing , to the younger crowd putting on performances to rival ( one up) the other other side . All in good fun .
these trends are great!
